As a destination wedding photographer, I live for the moments when we can slow down and experience the purity of our emotions as they unfold. Whether I’m witnessing the sweet embrace of a newly engaged couple on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean or the first tender kiss of a bride and groom as they recite their vows on the sandy shores of Phuket, it is my goal to visually capture the wide range of details, moments, and emotions that happen during the course of your special day. I specialize in medium format film photography (although I’m also pretty stellar when it comes to digital) because I still believe in the beauty that comes with taking the time to hone my craft by focusing on the quality of the images that I capture. It is probably also why you may occasionally find me in the dark room developing my own film.

Charmi Peña is a wedding and portrait photographer based in Princeton, NJ. She comes from a family where the acceptable career choices were limited to professions like doctors, lawyers, and investment bankers. However, she followed her passion for photography after her husband, Patrick, gifted her a a camera, and has since become a successful photographer and educator. Charmi is known for her exceptional skills and dedication to her craft, including being selected to serve as a Nikon Ambassador. As a proud, steadfast feminist and woman of color, she stays engaged in advocacy and activism whenever time allows it. When she's not smothering her husband Patrick, or their two little boys, Viru and Jai, she can be found gardening, with her 40+ house plants, playing video games, or watching basketball.
